Throw Pillows & Cushions

Throw pillows and cushions aren’t just for the sofa. In a home office, a supportive cushion behind your lower back can make a desk chair more comfortable, and a few scatter cushions on a reading chair or day bed make the room feel less like work. For your desk chair, look for a lumbar or seat cushion with firm memory foam and a removable, washable cover. Scatter cushions are more about style: 45 x 45 cm is the most common size, and an insert slightly larger than the cover gives a fuller, plumper look. Calm colours such as sage, soft grey and oatmeal suit a work space, and bouclé, linen or velvet add warmth. In a spare room that doubles as an office, a neat row of cushions helps a sofa bed look like a proper seat on workdays.Get tips on arranging cushions on a sofa, or browse more home office textiles and soft furnishings.
