Wall Shelves

Wall shelves add storage to a hallway without using up any floor space. A slim floating shelf by the front door gives keys, post and sunglasses a proper home, and a couple higher up can hold plants, frames or small baskets.Depth is the main thing to get right in a narrow hall: 10 to 15 cm is plenty for keys and small items and won’t catch shoulders as people squeeze past. Check the weight rating and fixings. Adhesive and no-drill shelves are great for renters and lighter items, but heavier wooden shelves with brackets should be screwed in with proper wall plugs. Radiator shelves make use of the often-wasted space above a hall radiator.
