Bathroom wall sconces give you flattering, even light at face height, something a single ceiling fitting rarely manages. Fitted either side of a mirror, they cut out the shadows that make shaving or applying make-up harder than it needs to be.The most important thing to check is the IP rating. Bathrooms are divided into zones around the bath and shower, and fittings in those zones need proper protection against moisture; IP44 is the usual minimum for zone 2, but a qualified electrician can confirm what your layout needs. Frosted or opal glass shades soften the light and hide water marks better than clear glass, while chrome and brushed nickel sit happily alongside most taps.
