Wall Art & Prints

Wall art and prints set the mood of a living room more than almost anything else you can hang. A large canvas above the sofa gives the room a focal point, while a pair or trio of prints can fill an awkward alcove or the empty wall beside the telly.Scale is where most people go wrong. As a rough guide, art above a sofa should span about two thirds of its width, with the bottom edge 20 to 25cm above the back cushions. Many prints arrive unframed, so allow for frames or choose a ready-framed canvas. Matching sets of two or three, from neutral abstracts to retro mid-century posters, take the guesswork out of grouping, and vinyl wall quotes are an easy option for renters.See more living room decorative accessories, or read our small living room ideas if wall space is tight.
