Rugs & Floor Mats

Rugs and floor mats make a home office warmer underfoot, quieter on calls and more clearly defined as a work zone, which helps a lot when your desk shares a room with a bed or sofa.If you use a wheeled office chair, a low-pile or flat-weave rug is the best bet, as castors roll easily over it and it won’t snag. A clear or tinted chair mat on top protects both rug and carpet from wear, and hard floors from scratches. Size the rug so the chair stays on it when you push back from the desk, which usually means at least 120 x 170cm. Washable rugs are worth considering if you drink coffee at your desk, and a non-slip underlay keeps everything in place. Soft textures and warm neutral colours help a box room feel cosier through long winter days.Find more in home office textiles & soft furnishings, or see our home office ideas.
