Oven Gloves & Pot Holders

Oven gloves and pot holders are some of the hardest-working textiles in the kitchen. A decent pair means you can lift a roasting tin or hot casserole dish with confidence, and a nice pattern hanging on the oven rail adds a little colour too. There are two main styles. Double oven gloves, the traditional British gauntlet joined by a long strip, are quick to grab and protect both hands at once; quilted cotton versions are soft and usually machine washable. Silicone mitts and pot holders grip well, wipe clean and tend to cope with higher temperatures, and extra-long ones cover your wrists when reaching to the back of the oven. Mini mitts are handy for the microwave or a hot pan handle. Whatever you choose, keep them dry, because damp cotton passes heat through quickly.Coordinate them with tea towels and aprons from our kitchen textiles.
