When a spotlight goes or a cabinet light flickers, having the right replacement to hand saves a trip to the shops and a lot of squinting at old packaging.The key is matching the fitting type. GU10 bulbs push and twist into mains spotlights, GX53 is the flat, disc-shaped cap often used in under-cabinet and recessed lights, and G4 is a small two-pin capsule that usually runs at 12V through a transformer. Check wattage, colour temperature (around 2700K to 3000K for a warm glow, 6500K for cool white) and whether the fitting is dimmable.
