Blankets & Throws

Blankets and throws are a home office essential that often gets overlooked. Heating a whole house for one person working at a desk is expensive, and a soft throw over your knees or around your shoulders keeps you comfortable on cold mornings without cranking up the thermostat. For desk use, a medium-sized throw around 130 x 150cm is easier to manage than a full bed blanket and won’t get tangled in your chair wheels. Fleece and sherpa styles are warm and light, chunky knits add texture if the throw lives over a reading chair, and cotton waffle weaves suit warmer months. Machine-washable fabrics are sensible for something you’ll use daily. Choose a colour that ties in with the room so it looks intentional when folded over a chair back, and keep a basket nearby to stop it ending up on the floor. For styling ideas, see how to style a throw or browse home office soft furnishings.
